Why you should know about SNIP & SJR

About this video

These metrics might not be as well-known as the others – but they are equally important.

SNIP (Source Normalized Impact per Paper) measures citations received by articles in the journal against citations expected for the subject field. SJR (Scimago Journal Rank) aims to capture the effect of subject field, quality, and reputation of a journal on citations. It calculates the prestige of a journal by considering the value of the sources that cite it, rather than counting all citations equally.

In this video you will become an expert of these metrics: you will learn how they are calculated, why they are important and where to find them.
